In the first half of 2024, Pro Progressione and SERI Germany ran two pilot seminars on the topics of The Big Green project. Following their success, the Green Academy enters is first full season. We are preparing five online seminars to take place between November 2024 and May or June 2025.
SERI Germany is the research partner in The Big Green, a pan-European arts and culture project co-funded by the EU. For the Green Academy, we collaborate with the project’s coordinating partner, the Hungarian cultural NGO Pro Progressione, Budapest. While colleagues at Pro Progressione contribute technical services and publicity work, SERI Fellow Philipp P. Thapa takes care of programming and speaker acquisition and serves as the seminar host.
A soil-themed season
The new Green Academy season focuses on The Big Green’s current annual theme, SOIL. We are preparing seminars on topics including locally sourced mineral pigments, sustainable pottery, and art training for agriculture students.
The first seminar of the new season, “Braiding Infrastructures for Each Other: The Art of Symbiosis“, takes place on 28 November 2024. It features Slovenian postmedia artist Saša Spačal and her journey into working with live fungi and materials inspired by science.
